Five brands score zero points in the latest Fashion Transparency Index.
The frightful five are Youngor, Jessica Simpson, Mexx, Elie Tahari and Torn Ford.
Another 10 brands "disclose almost nothing", including Longchamp, Max Mara, and New Yorker.
Sarah Ditty, policy director of Fashion Revolution, which compiles the index and accompanying report, said in London, "Major brands are disclosing very little and data about their purchasing practices, which that we still don't have visibility into what brands are doing to be responsible business partners to their suppliers."
Despite the almost total lack of transparency by some brands, says the report, "progressive brands are now taking real, tangible steps to disclose more about their social and environmental policies, practices and impacts."
Top of the listing of fashion brands and retailers are Adidas, Reebok and Patagonia.
A Fashion Revolution statement said brands needed to innovate, use fewer resources and help their customers consume less, take better care of their clothes and use them for longer if we are oto tackle the climate crisis."
